My Bio
I'm an artist and writer in Abbotsford, BC. I'm currently learning to paint in a more realistic style with acrylics, since most of my previous work was mixed media abstract.

I love to write and I'm working on short stories and a novel as well. I'm really fond of pseudohaiku and acrostic poems. I keep a daily journal that helps develop ideas and record impressions, and I draw a lot of my material from it.

I've been working as a professional graphic designer since 2002 and was full-time until 2010, but now I only do the occasional contract job. I use digital means to draft artwork and help me understand color profiles and dimensions for pieces, but I'm not very enthusiastic about digital media on its own. I see it as a tool, like a compass or color wheel.

I've added a handful of new images to my gallery. These newer paintings were done over the past year or so. I'm still working on my acrylic technique and just getting into color and the feeling of handling palettes. I continue to draw on personal experience to draft my themes. Best Brandon

It's been a while since my last entry, so I thought I'd put one together quickly. I'm trying to learn to paint with acrylics at the moment. What I mean is, I'm trying to learn to paint the way I want to, so I can represent what I really experience. In my experience of what we call the world, nothing is made of hard edges, and this is quite distinct from my experience earlier in life. Now everything passes into every other thing by way of fuzzy, indistinct zones. It's a sort of fabric. So I'm trying to develop a style of acrylic painting that will communicate this, & I've been practicing using bonfires as a subject. I've posted a couple in m

flora + fauna August 20, 2011 New collaborative works from Abbotsford-based artists April Solomon and Brandon Schultz exploring the idolization and personification of nature. She skillfully uses colored pencil, gouache, acrylic and collage to portray fantasy and nature imagery; her influences include art nouveau, realism and t

I really appreciated this space, where heaps of surprising ideas circulate, a real jam of genres and styles, each as rich as the other. Unbridled imagination, surrealism, excellent director, I love it!
